Sarah Birkeland has been a member of the Induction Partnership team since 2005. She began her career as a classroom teacher, teaching junior high Jakarta, Indonesia and elementary and middle school in Denver, Colorado. She left the classroom in 1999 to pursue a doctorate at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she was a member of The Project on the Next Generation of Teachers. She is co-author of Finders and Keepers: Helping New Teachers Survive and Thrive in our Schools as well as numerous articles about teacher training and induction. When she is not working in or writing about schools, she can often be found in the back yard playing with her daughters, Tali and Abby.
